Government scholarships
By the time our kids mutter their first sentences, we will have had our first mild panic attack as we wonder how much college tuition will increase from its already high price, in eighteen years when it is time to send our little genius off for a higher education. We pledge to work hard and pursue scholarships, but secretly we hope her singing career takes off so we can travel the country supporting her rock band.
By the time our big kids are finishing high school they may start to think for themselves for the first time and decide that they donТt want to go to college. For a second we will get excited because we know how short we are in our tuition fund, but then we remember why college is important. A college degree can provide many opportunities in your child's life.
Greater Knowledge is one of them. Not only knowledge in the subjects for the sake of a good job, but for the ability to understand developments, think abstractly and critically, to express herself clearly in speech and writing and to make wise decisions. With knowledge comes potential for job opportunities and lastly more money. Which brings us full circle.
If you need assistance for your child's tuition, you might qualify for a government scholarship. A scholarship is money for college that you will never be expected to pay back. There are many different scholarships available and are definitely worth the effort put forth to find one for which you qualify. A college scholarship is used based upon the student meeting certain criteria based on grades, sports, community involvement, etc. What you might not know about, though, is you can also apply for government grants. Government grants are available in a variety of categories including disadvantaged students and health care.
